Facebook Freebie $20 Giveaway

Teaching Resources on FacebookYou could win up to $20 in Teaching Resources!

Not everyone is a fan of Facebook*, but I love how it enables me to interact with great educators from all over the world. I enjoy the stories that are shared and wonderful advice I receive from teachers who connect with me on my Teaching Resources Facebook page.

I also love giving away free teaching materials, so last year I started a weekly "Facebook Freebie" giveaway program. Unfortunately, I had to stop because of Facebook rules regarding how winners are notified.

I'm excited to announce that I've figured out a way to conduct those giveaways within the Facebook guidelines! From now on, instead of notifying winners through Facebook, I will announce the winners in my free newsletter, Candler's Classroom Connections. So my Facebook Freebie program is back in business!

By the way, if you want to learn about some of the recent changes on Facebook, please watch the Facebook tips video below. I think you'll find it very informative.

How The Giveaway Works
  1. Watch for Thursday's status update on the Teaching Resources FB page that starts with Facebook Freebie Question. (Note: If you aren't getting my status updates, please read the step-by-step directions below.)
  2. Answer the question by sharing your response as a comment on that post.
  3. Share the Facebook Freebie question with others by using the link below it.
  4. Check the Candler's Classroom Connections newsletter on Saturday to see if you won!
Step-by-Step Directions for Facebook Newbies
  1. Facebook LikeGo to my Facebook page and click the Like button on that page. If you don't see the Like button, you already receive my updates and you can move on to the next step.
  2. If you haven't been receiving my email newsletters, sign up for Candler's Classroom Connections to make sure you receive the announcement about who wins each week. If you try to sign up and you receive a message about updating your profile, it means you are already signed up. If you know you don't receive my newsletters, sign up with a different email address. Note: Home email addresses are less likely to block my emails.
  3. Watch your Facebook news feed for a status update from Teaching Resources that begins "Facebook Freebie Question." In that message, I'll post a question that asks you to share a teaching idea or bit of advice that will benefit others. To enter the contest, post your response in the form of a comment attached to my question.

Important! What if you aren't getting status updates from me? I post the questions on Thursday, so search directly on Facebook page for Teaching Resources and look for the contest question. After you leave a comment, you should start seeing my status updates again. Facebook has changed how things operate, so please watch the Facebook tips video that I recorded to help you learn about the new rules
  4. Next, share the question with your friends by clicking the share link that's right under the question. Winners will only be selected from the list of people who respond and share the Facebook Freebie Question link.
  5. After about 24 hours, I'll select a winner. Sometimes I used random selection methods and other times I find a response that resonates with me or that receives a lot of "likes" from others.
  6. Check the next issue of Candler's Classroom Connections to find out who won the Facebook Freebie contest that week.
  7. If you win, you can choose any single digital item from my website that has a value of $20 or less! That includes my Classroom Book Clubs program and my Power Reading Workshop book!

Good luck! See you on Facebook!

How to Find The Content YOU Want to See on Facebook!

* Note: I'm aware that some people aren't comfortable on Facebook or their school systems discourage teachers from setting up Facebook accounts. I personally believe that the benefits of collaborating far outweigh the privacy issues, and you can always mark your account as private. I don't like excluding anyone from my giveaways, but at this time, the contest is only for Facebook fans because they will be sharing ideas and strategies via the Facebook platform. When I get my own blog working properly, I will try to add an option for entering the contest via my blog. Thanks for understanding.
