Literature Circle Book Picks
(Rated for 5th graders)
   
Many people have asked me which books I like to use with my 5th graders in literature circles. The following is a list of some of my favorites fiction titles, ranked according to Easy, Average, and Challenging for this age group. If you teach a different age group, disregard the ratings. Also, I wouldn't recommend using a book unless you have read it yourself. Some books may contain content that you or your parents do not feel is appropriate for your grade level.
     

Do you have your own favorite read-alouds and literature circle books for this grade level? If so, email me with your ideas. I'm always on the lookout for a good book to use with students! It's especially difficult to find a good "easy" book that has enough merit to be able to be discussed in a literature circle.
